[June 6, 2001] — Delegates from nine chapters of the Grand Gedeh Association in the Americas assembled in Crystal, Minnesota, over the Memorial Day weekend for the organization’s 9th annual convention. During the event, delegates elected a new corps of officers to a two-year term (2001-2003).

Mr. William G. Nyanue was elected president; P. David Gbortoe, vice president; Jackson N. Wonde, secretary general; Annie Zeon-Yonly, treasurer; and the Rev. Cecelia Towah, chaplain.

The new corps of officers were elected unopposed. They are committed to strengthen the Grand Gedeh Association in the Americas, provide assistance for the reconstruction of Grand Gedeh County and to advocate effectively for the people of Grand Gedeh.

The newly-elected president is a civil engineer and former planning and development manager at the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation in Monrovia.

The convention also featured Dr. Christopher Wreh, as a keynoter. Matters relative to annual reports by the outgoing administration, and fundraising activities were discussed.

Several former association leaders and few elders of Grand Gedeh County attended the conference also.

– Earlier this year, an “assassination list” with names of 45 Liberians, was published. Certain Libyans, Burkinabes, Ukranians and RUF hooligans from Sierra Leone are reportedly trained and dispersed throughout West Africa, Europe and America to kill several Liberian political leaders, journalists, and human rights activists. The death list was said to have been approved by Charles Taylor.

The assassination project is a second coming from a “democratically elected Liberian presidency.” Those blacklisted on the first (Sam Dokie, Madison Wion, etc.) have been killed while Justice has been denied.

Working hand in glove with the executioners are few Liberian diplomats abroad, relatives and friends of Charles Taylor on his “blood diamond payroll through foreign banks.” Below are names of persons pointed out by our sources in Monrovia and elsewhere as co-conspirators of Taylor’s vicious game plan. The counter list has been passed on to appropriate US federal authorities for more reasons than one.
